The care and preservation of works of art is a demanding and specialized function. The skills needed are rare and frequently require years of practice. Through our studio in downtown Toledo, The Artworks offers a number of conservation, repair and restoration services.
Paintings on Canvas Repair of torn or punctured supports, cleaning, removal of discolored or aged varnish, complete or partial relining, treatment of separating ground, stretching, expert in-painting of missing areas.
Works on Paper Remediation of acid burns, "foxing", stains and other discoloration, deacidification, repairs of tears and cockeling, removal of tapes and adhesives, archival mounting, matting and encapsulation.
Frames Repair of broken or missing composition ornaments, replication of damaged finishes, replacement ,if needed, with period appropriate new frames
Photographs. We offer the finest digital restoration of unique photographic works and the many varieties of hand enhanced photo-based works of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Ceramics Reassembly of many broken clay and porcelain pieces. It is also sometimes possible to replicate missing parts
Work is done in our Toledo studio and your artwork is insured, while on our premises.
